Republik: Hello guys. I read that you started as a band with a huge tour of two
years, and then released your debut album. Usually it’s the other way
around:) Can you tell us a little bit about this experience? What’s it like
to be at the beginning as a band, and to travel all around the world, how
did this influence your music and your path as a band afterwards?

A-LIX: Before we started playing together as A-lix, both of us were in Barcelona
playing separately with solo projects (Vincent playing as Alix in his
electro-punk one man show, and Lorena playing her own pop-folk songs). At
some point we started sharing stages supporting each other until Lorena
chose to join Vincent’s project. She left her folk universe behind in order
to add her energy and electronic music passion to Vincent’s great tunes she
had been enjoying from the crowd (She’s also known as Miss Enemy dj
-www.myspace.com/djenemy_luli).
So came the time to rehearse together and it didn’t take too long until the
brand new formation was ready to rock. We always felt very confident with
what we are bringing, and our attitude had its impact seducing bookers and

De aici ne lungim pe tema tehnivalurilor, a stilurilor, ritmurilor ?üi ‚Ķ etc. Ne-am dus departe ?Æn discu?£ii. Asta e sigur. Dar nu se mai ?ütie pe unde ?üi de ce. Anyway, am¬†lƒÉsat-o mai moale cu interven?£iile jurnalistice. Nu era chiar ora bunƒÉ. Dec?¢t pentru 3 ?ÆntrebƒÉri la ora 3.

Republik: How would you describe your music, in terms of
sound and influences?
Trash Fashion: Haha no idea really! we’re into all kindsa shit from
Maiden, to the Chili Peppers to Daft Punk to the Prodigy to Blur,
so we put it all together and trash fashion comes out the other end!

Republik: What got you into the music industry? And tell us a bit about the
London new rave scene. any new rave bands or clubs we should check out from
London?
Trash Fashion: new rave is a bit of a dirty term in London right now!!
There are plenty of kewl nights and bands still flying the flag tho!
Nights like calling all tribes, nuke them all and super super all have wide
ranges of mad and banging music played on their nights, and bands like
Ghost frequency, Dead Kids, Robot Disaster and the coolness are all
trying something fresh and new right now.

Republik: I just need to know, who designs your outfits?
Trash Fashion: We do! but any cool outfits we end up with is more often
by luck than good judgement!!

Republik: You have a lot of gigs worldwide. Some wild things you did on tours.
We are shameless, you can share.
Trash Fashion: There’s been a few wild moments when we’ve been touring..
we played a festival near Barcelona and Jimbo was pretty wasted and
jumped out of our 2nd floor hotel window into a neighbours swimming pool
narrowly missing the concrete. He didnt even know how deep the water was.
Foolish.

Republik: Hey Dave, do you really talk like that or is the accent just for the
songs?:)
Trash Fashion: Haha no unfortunately we were blessed/cursed by being
born in Birmingham. We really do talk that dum!

Republik: Now let’s put things in perspective. if possible, what band would you
like to be reincarnated as?
Trash Fashion: Easy: The Maiden!

Republik: You guys are known for great gigs. What’s it take for a gig to
really stand out?
Trash Fashion: Doesn’t matter how big the venue is, or how many people are
there, as long as people are into it, there aint no better place in the world to be
than on stage! Stage invasions, broken equipment and some blood are usually
signs of a good gig tho!

Republik: I see now you have quite a strong fan base on your myspace page. tell us a little bit
about how you started the whole thing and how you eventually got their attention.

OUR MYSPACE PAGE – WE DIDN’T EVEN KNOW WHAT MYSPACE WAS -
NOW IT’S HUGE. ALTHOUGH IT SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN OVERTAKEN BY FACEBOOK IN THE UK.

Republik: As an indie band, you don’t have big marketing budgets to promote yourself,
and in this case the fan base becomes on of your most important advocates. what was
their most significant input in spreading the word about you?

Robots in Disguise: I GUESS IF EACH FAN TELLS A FEW FRIENDS THAT WORKS. AND FANS
START UP THEIR OWN INTERNET PAGES AND CHAT FORUMS ABOUT US, THAT HELPS TOO.

Republik: Your sound resembles a little bit other bands like chicks on speed or ting tings.
How would you say you differentiate yourself in comparison?

Robots in Disguise: MORE MELODY THAN CHICKS ON SPEED AND LESS POP THAN
TING TINGS. WE TOURED WITH CHICKS ON SPEED – DEFINITELY ADMIRE THE WORLD
THEY HAVE CREATED. I ALSO LOVE THEIR SONG ‘WE DON’T PLAY GUITARS’ -
HA THAT’S WHERE WE DIFFER – WE DO PLAY GUITARS!

Republik: What band would you like to open for as a live act?
